Carbs And Stress Eating
There are many different diets that are available commercially that are good diets to follow, but in the clutch, these diets will fail. When we are stressed our willpower breaks and we head straight for the comfort food that we know will comfort us.
The bad news is that most carbs have sugar in them. We are addicted to the sugar rush and the feeling that the sugar gives us. One we can learn to kick the sugar habit and the addiction to the sugars, then our diets will finally come back up into balance. Kicking the addiction to sugar is one of the hardest things to do and when we are stressed, we go straight for the sugar and comfort of comfort foods. When we are stressed out, we head for things that are high in carbohydrates. This leads to a carbohydrate addiction that is very hard to break and leads to weight gain. It also takes an adjustment to be able to avoid the high carb foods that we love especially when we are stressed out. We have to change our focus to finding something else to take the place of our stress eating.
Stress eating and the buildup of cortisol lead to weight gain. In order to achieve your weight loss goals, we need to find another focus which will help us to stop the stress eating and binge eating that often come with stressful situations.
Who hasn’t reached for a pint of ice cream or a bag of chips when they are stressed out? That is precisely why we need to learn to change our focus when we are stressed and change our eating habits. We also need to learn how to manage our stress and stressors in order to take control of our emotional eating and get it and our weight back under control. It is wise to find healthy alternatives to our comfort foods and eat them instead of our comfort foods. A change in attitude will help with any stressful situation, and will allow you to be able to break the vicious cycle of binge and stress eating. By taking these steps, you should be able to make a healthy change in both your lifestyle and your diet.
